Eligibility Criteria
1. The candidate must have passed Master’s degree examination with minimum of 50% in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Bioinformatics or any other Life Science related courses.
2. The minimum marks for students belonging to SC / ST categories shall be 40% in the qualifying degree examination.
3. Aspiring candidates should take up the KBAT online test (administrated by K-Tech Govt. Of Karnataka and others).
4. Ranking will be generated for each candidate with 50% of Entrance Test marks + 50 % marks of the qualifying examination.
Admission Procedure
Admission shall be done through the entrance test and Ranking generated for each candidate with 50% of Entrance Test marks + 50 % marks of the qualifying examination.
The candidates securing up to 50% marks belonging to general category/OBCs and 40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be called for Counselling and Seat Allotment to select their choice of domain and institute based on the availability of universities/colleges.

Their main responsibility is operating equipment, measuring chemicals and formulating complex products etc. They have to deal with various research and development work for innovating novel and safe products. They also work as a fermentation technologist for product and process development work. |
Bioprocess Engineer |
Their responsibility is to organize, run, sustain and improve the plant's manufacturing procedure. They actually work on the manufacturing floor to develop and produce products, troubleshoot equipment, process improvement, error-proof the process, investigate the deviations etc. |
Biofuel Technicians |
They have to carry out different laboratory and research works involved in producing biofuels, like ethanol, biodiesel etc. They have to work with fermenters, distillation, grain proportion, algae culture, oil chemistry and separation technology. |
Cell Culture Technician |
The main responsibility of a cell culture technician is to grow living cells (comes from plants or animals) in culture flasks, bioreactors, plates etc. They also start culturing from tissues like umbilical cords or tumor biopsies. |
Manufacturing Technician- Downstream and Upstream |
They have to deal with upstream or downstream processes of bioprocess technology. In downstream processes, products are harvested, tested, purified and packaged, whereas in upstream processes, the biological materials are obtained from an outside source or inoculated and grown in the culture, under controlled situations for manufacturing products. |
